Glossary
I'm thinking it might be helpful if we compile a running glossary of NLP terms. Not only will it help us explain to the other members of the group any concepts we may have learned; it also might be helpful for our presentation, as we'll need to define some key terms for the other students in our class. Any thoughts or ideas? If we do this, it might be easiest to do this on a spreadsheet on GoogleDrive, or perhaps even a database application.
Idea for intro?
This might be something interesting for the introduction of our presentation, a practical example of how NLP can be used in everyday life. A few years ago, scholars used text mining software to show that Shakespeare was in fact the author of a play that had been unattributed.

If this idea has any promise, we would need to research it further, as I would rather not cite Time magazine in an academic assignment.

Link to Stanford NLP videos
Hey everyone - No new news, really. I needed something for a first post, so here's just another link to those Open Course Stanford NLP lectures.
There are also PDFs which accompany each lecture at this link. You'll probably need to register for Coursera in order to access this, but it's free. It will likely be tedious to download each PDF file manually, so I used a Firefox add-on called DownThemAll! to download everything on that page in a few clicks. If anyone needs more info on how to use DownThemAll!, just send me a note.
Take care, MC.
